Album: Madeline's & Sarah's Most Excellent Maine Vacation ~ October 2005

This is the record of our Downeast Maine Beaches Vacation. (YOU CAN ADD COMMENTS TO ANY IMAGE & SEE A LARGER IMAGE BY CLICKING ON A THUMBNAIL IN AN ALBUM) The sub-albums are in chronological order so as to relate our adventures as they occured. We had a most splendid time. Simply perfect in every respect. It only rained heavily for about a day & a half and was mostly cloudy for the 1st 3-4 days. That didn't keep us from the beaches though, and after the 17th the sun came out for most of the time and everything was much more fun. We stayed in a cottage just outside of Ogunquit about 9 miles from our favorite beach, Parsons Beach just south of Kennebunk. We went there every day and also ran/strolled Gooches Beach in Kennebunk, Ogunquit Beach and Goose Rocks Beach just north of Kennebunk. It was Heaven! We fell into bed early each night, blissfully exhausted, rolled out of bed when we wanted, ate scrumptious pastries and take-out eggs benedict from Port Bakery in Kennebunk every morning, enjoyed yummy lobster rolls every day for lunch, (& mosttimes for dinner too), and ate every meal in the PupMobile watching the ocean. (There were some meals that were not intended for consumption but which Madeline & Sarah found irresistible: snails & seaweed off the beach, all sorts of dead things that are part of beaches such as the parts of fish that the seagulls don't want. No one was sick though, Thank God!) We met many wonderful people, (all of whom thought M&S were just the most adorable girls they'd ever met) & dogs (who sometimes weren't too sure) We even met another Cocker Spaniel! (And for those of you who know, this little black Cocker was one of Bonnie Pike's. A Soldier of Fortune grand-daughter named Roxie.) Anyway, when we weren't at the beaches we were strolling the grounds that our cottage was part of. Sarah discovered a playscape and a yellow TurboSlide that was much newer than the one she has at home. There was even a swing. And a stream ran down one side of a field and both M&S couldn't resist dipping their feet and Sarah trolled the whole length one day searching for fish. Now we are home and go to bed each night dreaming of the sounds and smells of the ocean, the feel of the ocean breeze in our hair, the unhurried, care-free, worry-free and completely relaxed state of being on vacation in Maine. It's sad to have left there but wonderful to have been there and have all of that to hold onto until we return. March 2006? Hmmmmm Sounds good for a long weekend. And October 2006 for a week or two? Definitely! (ALL COMMENTS WELCOME)
